The Honeywell FS-USI-0001 Universal Safety Interface Module is a high-performance communication module designed to facilitate Ethernet and serial communication between Honeywell’s Safety Manager system and external devices such as Experion™ PKS and Safety Builder. Positioned within the controller chassis, it acts as a hardware firewall, safeguarding the integrity of safety functions within the Safety Manager system.
Equipped with a Motorola 8260 communication processor, the FS-USI-0001 ensures reliable data exchange and system security. Its architecture includes EEPROM for storing module-specific data, 8 MB of Flash memory for system and application programs, 4 MB of local SRAM with error detection and correction logic, and 256 KB of shared RAM for data exchange with the control processor. The module also features two dual-speed fast Ethernet transceivers and two general-purpose serial communication controller channels.
