ABB ACS880 industrial drive has received the first Cybersecurity Type Approval Certificate for electrical drive products issued by the China Classification Society (CCS) during the China International Maritime Exhibition. This marks official recognition of ABB’s technical capabilities in maritime cybersecurity and industrial drive systems.

The product is widely used in ship and offshore applications such as electric propulsion, shaft generators, waste heat recovery, energy storage systems, and desulfurization scrubbers. It is designed for high reliability and stable performance in harsh marine environments. It supports high-precision motor control without an encoder and integrates seamlessly with mainstream automation networks, making it compatible with a wide range of motor types.

During the certification ceremony, representatives from the industry and ABB executives witnessed the event. ABB stated that this certification reflects its continuous investment in ship intelligentization and cybersecurity. The company will further enhance maritime safety, efficiency, and reliability through digital drive systems and services, supporting the industry’s transition toward smarter and cleaner operations.

As a global leader in electrification and automation technologies, ABB continues to advance industrial digitalization and sustainability by integrating engineering expertise with digital solutions to improve energy efficiency and productivity.

In addition, ABB Switzerland Ltd. has filed a patent for a coating system (Publication No. CN121042195A), aimed at improving the discharge efficiency of bubbles and foreign particles inside the coating head, thereby enhancing spraying quality stability.

The system uses coordinated control between a robotic arm and a control unit to adjust the coating head posture during operation, allowing internal bubbles to be discharged more effectively while in motion, and immediately resumes spraying once the posture is restored. This reduces the impact of bubbles and impurities on coating results.

This technology optimizes the coordination between spraying control and motion control, helping to improve coating uniformity as well as the overall stability and reliability of industrial coating systems.
