Information from the China National Intellectual Property Administration shows that ABB Switzerland Ltd. has filed a patent titled “Cable Harness Protection Device for Industrial Robots,” with publication number CN121263281A, filed in June 2023.
The patent describes a structural solution designed to protect cable harnesses used in industrial robots, aiming to enhance safety, durability, and reliability during robotic arm movement.
According to the filing, the protection device includes a protective tube with a first end, a second end, and an internal chamber. The cable harness is housed within this chamber, allowing it to be securely routed and protected during robot operation. This design helps reduce wear and damage caused by external environmental factors and continuous mechanical movement.
The system also includes a first fixing device and a second fixing device, both designed with a sealed configuration. These components are used to securely attach the protective tube to different arms of the industrial robot. Specifically, the first fixing device connects one end of the protective tube to the first robot arm, while the second fixing device attaches the opposite end to a second arm that moves relative to the first.
By combining a sealed mounting structure with a flexible protective tube, the technology ensures that cable harnesses remain protected from stretching, abrasion, and contamination during operation. This improves the overall reliability and long-term stability of industrial robotic systems in dynamic manufacturing environments.
