ABB officially launched its “Digital Innovation & Net-Zero Initiative – China Action” during the 8th China International Import Expo, calling on customers, partners, and research institutions to jointly build a net-zero ecosystem and accelerate green transformation across energy, industry, transportation, and infrastructure sectors.
Morten Wierod stated that rising energy demand and intensifying climate challenges make electrification and energy efficiency essential pathways to achieving net-zero emissions. ABB’s 2050 net-zero target has been validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), and the company will continue strengthening collaboration across its ecosystem.
China’s 15th Five-Year Plan emphasizes accelerating green and low-carbon development, building a modern energy system, expanding renewable energy integration, and promoting smart grids, microgrids, and electrification of end-use energy. It also supports zero-carbon factories and industrial parks as key development priorities.
Gong Chunyuan highlighted that ABB integrates sustainability into its core strategy, leveraging electrification, automation, and digital technologies to support both its own operations and customer decarbonization goals.
By the end of 2024, ABB China had reduced Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 92.8% compared with 2019 levels. Non-hazardous waste recycling reached 89.6%, and multiple local facilities have been certified as green factories and energy management leaders.
A key highlight is the zero-carbon AI + solar-storage-direct-flexibility industrial park in Yangzhong, jointly developed by ABB and partners. The project achieves over 90% renewable energy substitution and local consumption rates.
It is powered by the ABB ZEE600 smart energy management system, which uses edge computing and AI-driven forecasting to optimize the “source-grid-load-storage” system in real time.
At the expo, ABB showcased integrated decarbonization solutions across multiple sectors:
Through its Digital Innovation & Net-Zero Initiative, ABB aims to deepen collaboration across the value chain, share scalable green technologies, and co-develop replicable solutions to accelerate global industrial decarbonization and sustainable growth.
