Honeywell China President Yu Feng said that over the past five years, China has continuously improved its carbon reduction policy framework, promoted industrial restructuring and upgrading, accelerated the transition to green and low-carbon energy systems, and actively advanced green development in urban and rural construction. The “dual carbon” goals have become a key driver of China’s industrial transformation and a core engine for high-quality economic growth, supporting the upgrading of manufacturing, cleaner energy systems, and sustainable urban development.

In terms of industrial structure, China has been fostering new growth drivers and strengthening new competitive advantages by developing new quality productive forces and accelerating the construction of a green, low-carbon circular economy. According to data released by the National Development and Reform Commission, China’s energy intensity fell by 3.8% year-on-year in 2024, and declined by a cumulative 11.6% during the first four years of the 14th Five-Year Plan period, making China one of the fastest countries in the world in reducing energy intensity.

In the energy sector, China has made significant progress in restructuring its energy mix. The share of coal consumption dropped from 56.8% in 2020 to 53.2% in 2024, while non-fossil energy consumption rose from 15.9% to 19.8%. China also continues to lead globally in renewable energy installed capacity and deployment speed.

In urban and rural construction, green development standards continue to improve. In 2024, more than 97% of newly built urban buildings were classified as green buildings, while over 66% of existing urban buildings have been upgraded to energy-efficient standards, reflecting the mainstream adoption of sustainable construction practices.

Yu Feng emphasized that the “dual carbon” goals not only provide clear direction for China’s economic and social development, but also create significant opportunities for industries such as aviation, construction, and manufacturing to accelerate their green transformation. For Honeywell, a company focused on sustainable technologies, this transition represents both expanding market opportunities and greater innovation potential in China’s low-carbon development journey.
