1. What is the GE Multilin UR 8FV CT/VT Module used for?
The GE Multilin UR 8FV is a CT/VT module designed to provide AC current and voltage signals to GE Multilin Universal Relay systems. 2. How many CT and VT inputs are available on the UR 8FV?

4. What type of voltage signals can be connected to the UR 8FV?

5. Can the UR 8FV be used for power system protection and metering?

7. What should be checked if the current or voltage readings from a UR 8FV appear incorrect?
Begin by checking the CT and VT secondary wiring, terminal connections and phase identification. Confirm that the CT ratio, 1 A/5 A selection, VT ratio and nominal frequency are correctly configured in the host relay. CT polarity and phase sequence should also be checked because reversed polarity or incorrect phase assignment can produce abnormal measurements and affect directional protection. If the external circuits and relay settings are correct, inspect the module connection and perform appropriate injection testing to determine whether the module or another part of the measurement chain is responsible.

8. What safety precautions are required when replacing a GE UR 8FV CT/VT Module?
The protection system should be placed in an appropriate maintenance condition before removing or replacing the module. CT circuits require particular attention because an energized CT secondary circuit must not be opened improperly, as dangerous voltages can develop. VT circuits should also be isolated and handled according to the site’s electrical safety procedures. After replacement, verify every CT and VT connection, review the relay settings and perform suitable secondary injection or functional testing to confirm that current and voltage measurements are correct before returning the protection system to operation.
