Emerson has announced plans to build a new automation solutions service and operations center in Qatar, strengthening its industrial automation support capabilities across the Middle East and Africa.

The new Emerson Middle East & Africa Service Center will be located in the Umm Alhoul Free Zone and is planned as a 3,500-square-meter facility. The project includes a certified flow calibration laboratory, automation technology services, spare-parts distribution, training facilities and support for distributed control system (DCS) staging and integration.

The facility is expected to provide regional customers with faster access to automation services and technical resources. The certified flow calibration laboratory will support large flow meters used in high-pressure and high-volume industrial applications.

The planned center will also include measurement instrumentation solutions and skid training systems, allowing customer operations teams to receive practical training. Additional capabilities will include inventory and spare-parts services as well as DCS staging and integration support.

The project is scheduled to open in phases. Control-system staging, measurement services, spare-parts inventory and the training center are planned to begin operations in December 2026, while the certified flow calibration laboratory is expected to open in early 2027.

The investment reflects the growing importance of localized industrial automation services. For process industries, maintaining PLC, DCS, instrumentation and measurement equipment requires more than the initial installation of automation hardware. Calibration, spare parts, engineering support, system integration and technician training are also critical to long-term plant operation.

For companies operating industrial facilities in the Middle East and Africa, regional automation service infrastructure can help shorten service cycles and provide access to specialized technical capabilities closer to operating sites.

Emerson’s Qatar project therefore reflects the wider development of regional industrial automation ecosystems, where control systems, instrumentation, maintenance services, training and engineering support are increasingly being developed together.
