At the China Development Forum 2026 annual meeting, ABB CEO Morten Wierod said China has demonstrated strong leadership in global green transformation and built the world’s largest and fastest-growing renewable energy system, with renewables accounting for over 60% of total installed power capacity. Significant progress has also been made in energy storage and green computing infrastructure, laying a solid foundation for China’s carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals.

As a long-term technology partner in China’s energy transition, ABB is actively contributing through innovation-driven solutions. Recent projects include a zero-carbon industrial park developed with Jiangsu Haihang Electric in Zhenjiang, an intelligent manufacturing solution for Qingdao Special Steel integrating digital twin, data analytics, and safety management systems for real-time process control, and marine motion control technologies that improve vessel energy efficiency while reducing fuel consumption and emissions.

Wierod emphasized that China is ABB’s second-largest market globally. The company will continue to focus on local growth opportunities and align its technologies with China’s dual carbon policies and the accelerating demand for sustainable industrial transformation.
