Honeywell has announced the commercial release of its AI-driven solution, Experion® Operations Assistant , following the successful completion of pilot deployments. The system is designed to enhance industrial operations by providing advanced decision support, early anomaly detection, and actionable recommendations to improve overall plant performance and safety.
Built on Honeywell’s flagship distributed control system Experion PKS, the solution integrates artificial intelligence with industrial domain expertise to unlock historical data value and deliver real-time operational insights. It helps operators anticipate abnormal events and respond proactively to scenarios that could lead to safety incidents or production losses, supporting a shift toward more autonomous industrial operations.
During the pilot phase, the system was deployed with major energy companies including Chevron and TotalEnergies, where it was used to predict abnormal events, reduce unplanned downtime, and improve operational efficiency. Field results showed that the AI system could provide early warnings approximately 5–10 minutes before alarm conditions occur, giving operators critical time to take corrective actions and prevent disruptions.
According to Jim Masso, President and CEO of Honeywell Process Automation, the solution combines over 50 years of industrial automation expertise with site-specific knowledge and advanced AI technologies. It enables operators to identify issues earlier and respond with greater confidence, improving both safety and productivity. Pilot deployments have demonstrated strong performance and scalability across multiple industrial environments.
As part of the Experion PKS ecosystem, Experion Operations Assistant can be seamlessly integrated into existing control room infrastructures. It leverages historical operational data, embedded site knowledge, and large language model technologies to deliver real-time predictive insights and early warnings, supporting more proactive and autonomous decision-making in industrial operations.
