ABB has filed a patent with the China National Intellectual Property Administration for an unmanned transport vehicle featuring improved anti-rollover performance. The application, published under number CN121038978A, was submitted in May 2023.
The invention focuses on enhancing vehicle stability and safety while maintaining a cost-efficient design for industrial applications such as automated logistics and material handling.
According to the patent abstract, the unmanned transport vehicle (100) includes a chassis (110) and a suspension system (120) configured to connect the chassis to the wheels while allowing relative movement between them.
The suspension system comprises a first wheel (124), a second wheel (126), a support bracket (128) connecting the two wheels, and a hinge shaft (121) that connects the support bracket to the chassis.
A first sensor is installed on the hinge shaft to detect forces transmitted from the chassis to the support bracket. This data is used to monitor load conditions and improve vehicle stability, particularly in scenarios where rollover risk is present.
By integrating force detection at the suspension interface, the system enables improved anti-rollover performance in a cost-effective manner, enhancing operational safety and reliability for unmanned transport applications in industrial environments.
