During the 30th anniversary of Honeywell’s Tianjin plant operation, Yu Feng, President of Honeywell Greater China, said in an interview that China’s rapidly evolving market demand and high standards are driving the company to strengthen its local capabilities in R&D, manufacturing, and delivery to respond more quickly to customer needs.

Yu noted that Chinese customers place increasingly high expectations on service quality and product performance, which further reinforces Honeywell’s commitment to building a deeply localized value chain covering innovation, R&D, manufacturing, and sales. The company continues to advance its “East for East” strategy, leveraging local innovation to support business growth in China.

As one of Honeywell’s early manufacturing bases in China, the company’s two Tianjin facilities serve key business segments including process automation and building automation. Yu described Tianjin as a critical hub combining innovation, manufacturing, and operations, acting as the company’s “innovation brain, manufacturing hands, and execution engine” to deliver advanced solutions to customers.

Regarding global restructuring, Yu revealed that Honeywell is optimizing its business portfolio through planned spin-offs. Its performance materials business has already been independently listed, while the aerospace business is expected to be spun off in the second half of the year. After these adjustments, Honeywell will focus more strongly on automation and energy transition, enabling more targeted innovation and a clearer business structure to serve both global and Chinese markets.

Amid rising geopolitical tensions and an increasingly complex trade environment, Yu emphasized that Honeywell’s commitment to China remains unchanged. The company will continue to strengthen its core capabilities and align innovation and manufacturing more closely with local market needs.

Yu also highlighted emerging opportunities in China’s industrial landscape, particularly in sectors such as shipbuilding, life sciences, healthcare, new energy, and advanced manufacturing. China’s shipbuilding capabilities are among the world’s leading, with LNG vessels requiring increasingly advanced safety and control systems. Honeywell provides integrated solutions including control, metering, and fire safety systems, while its local teams co-develop solutions with customers.

Looking ahead, Honeywell will continue to follow market and customer demand, increasing investment in local innovation and collaboration. The company also aims to work with Chinese partners to expand globally, leveraging capabilities developed in China to support international markets.
