It also provides electronic thermal motor protection based on continuous I²t calculation. Correct motor nameplate data should be entered during commissioning so that the motor protection function can operate properly.

7. How should the ATV12HU22M2 be commissioned with a new motor?

Before commissioning, verify the incoming power, motor wiring, grounding and control connections. Enter the motor nameplate information into the drive, including rated voltage, current, frequency and power.

Set appropriate acceleration and deceleration times according to the mechanical load. The acceleration and deceleration ramps can be configured over a wide range, allowing the drive to be adapted to different machine inertia characteristics.

During the first startup, run the motor at low speed and verify the rotation direction, current and mechanical operation. Once normal operation is confirmed, gradually increase the speed and apply the normal load.

8. What should be checked if the ATV12HU22M2 frequently trips?

First identify the fault code and determine whether the trip occurs during startup, acceleration, deceleration or steady-state operation.

For overcurrent faults, check the motor load, acceleration time, motor wiring and mechanical system. For overheating faults, inspect ventilation, ambient temperature, load level and switching-frequency settings. For undervoltage or overvoltage faults, check the incoming power supply and electrical connections.

Incorrect motor parameters can also cause excessive current or unstable operation. If the fault continues, the motor, mechanical load, power supply, control wiring and VFD should be checked systematically rather than repeatedly resetting the drive.
