ABB has announced a major expansion of its industrial automation business through an agreement to acquire UK-based Rotork, a global supplier of intelligent flow control and instrumentation solutions. The transaction, announced in July 2026, represents one of the most significant recent developments in the industrial automation sector and further strengthens ABB’s position in process industries and critical infrastructure.

Under the proposed transaction, ABB has offered 503 pence in cash for each Rotork share. The deal represents an enterprise value of approximately $5.5 billion. ABB expects the acquisition to add around 3% to its revenue and contribute positively to operating profitability.
