Robotic automation continues to expand across packaging and food manufacturing as manufacturers look for higher productivity, greater flexibility and more consistent production quality.

KUKA Robotics recently announced that it will demonstrate advanced automation solutions for packaging operations and food manufacturing at PACK EXPO 2026 in Chicago. The event is scheduled for October 18–21, 2026, at McCormick Place, where KUKA will present live automation cells in Booth N-5530.

The demonstrations will focus on practical industrial applications rather than robotics as a standalone technology. According to the announcement, KUKA will showcase automated case erecting, palletizing, depalletizing and case blank loading, together with collaborative robot solutions. The demonstrations will be developed with system partners including the Compendium Group, FOCUS Integration and Acieta.

For manufacturers, this trend is significant because packaging automation increasingly requires coordination between industrial robots, PLC controllers, machine vision systems, conveyors, sensors and higher-level production software. A modern packaging line is therefore becoming a highly integrated automation platform rather than a collection of independent machines.

Robotic palletizing and depalletizing are particularly attractive applications because they can handle repetitive material movement while maintaining consistent cycle times. When combined with PLC-based machine control and industrial communication networks, robots can be integrated into broader production sequences involving conveyors, safety systems, sensors and inspection equipment.

Food manufacturing also presents additional automation requirements.
