Siemens Launches Meet At The Machine Initiative To Accelerate CNC Automation And Manufacturing Productivity

Siemens has launched a new initiative called “Meet at the Machine” to bring machine builders, software technologies and industrial automation closer together in the CNC manufacturing sector.

Announced in September 2026, the initiative is designed to help manufacturers improve production preparation, machine integration and overall productivity. TRAK Machine Tools is the first partner involved in the program, with the initial phase focusing on enabling manufacturers to begin production preparation before a machine is delivered.

The announcement reflects a broader trend in industrial automation: manufacturers are increasingly looking for integrated solutions rather than isolated automation components. CNC machines, PLC controllers, industrial networks, engineering software, digital twins and production-management systems must increasingly work together as part of a connected manufacturing environment.

For machine builders, closer integration between automation hardware and engineering software can help reduce the complexity involved in commissioning new equipment. Production data and engineering information can also be prepared earlier, allowing manufacturers to shorten the transition from machine installation to actual production.

This approach is particularly relevant as factories face increasing pressure to improve productivity while dealing with increasingly complex equipment and workforce challenges. Modern CNC automation requires more than high-speed machining. Manufacturers also need reliable motion control, PLC programming, industrial communication, condition monitoring and software tools that can support the entire machine lifecycle.

The initiative also demonstrates how digitalization is changing the role of industrial automation suppliers. Automation platforms are increasingly expected to connect engineering, commissioning and production activities rather than simply provide individual controllers or drives.

For international manufacturers and system integrators, this trend creates growing demand for compatible PLC systems, CNC automation equipment, industrial communication modules, motion-control components and engineering software. The ability to integrate these technologies efficiently can directly affect commissioning time and production performance.

Siemens’ new initiative is therefore part of a wider shift toward integrated digital manufacturing. As factories continue to adopt smart manufacturing technologies, automation architecture is becoming increasingly connected across the machine, production line and enterprise level.

The future of CNC automation will likely depend not only on machine performance, but also on how effectively software, controls, robotics and production systems can operate as one integrated manufacturing environment.
