Rockwell Automation has launched TechConnectIQ Support, a new digitally enabled remote support service designed to help manufacturers troubleshoot industrial automation systems, reduce downtime and simplify software and firmware updates.

The service combines remote access to technical specialists with digital tools including AI-supported search, augmented reality guidance and instructional videos. The platform is designed to help maintenance, engineering and operations teams resolve automation problems more efficiently when on-site specialists are not immediately available.
TechConnectIQ provides support for installation, configuration, troubleshooting and issue resolution across industrial automation systems. This approach is particularly relevant to PLC-based manufacturing environments, where equipment downtime can involve controllers, I/O modules, industrial networks, drives, HMIs, safety systems and software.
Diagnosing an automation problem often requires engineers to review hardware information, configuration data, historical support records and technical documentation. Digital support platforms can bring these resources together and provide maintenance teams with faster access to relevant technical information.
Augmented reality is another notable feature. Instead of relying exclusively on traditional manuals, technicians can receive visual guidance for certain maintenance activities. This approach can be useful for distributed manufacturing operations where experienced automation engineers are not always physically available at every facility.
The introduction of AI into industrial support also reflects a broader change in automation maintenance. Predictive maintenance, remote diagnostics, digital work instructions and AI-assisted troubleshooting are increasingly being combined with conventional PLC and control-system maintenance.
For global manufacturers, this trend could be especially significant. Production facilities often operate with different generations of PLCs, drives, I/O modules and industrial networks. Digital support technologies can help maintenance teams access technical knowledge more quickly and standardize troubleshooting processes.

As industrial automation becomes more connected, remote service and AI-assisted maintenance are becoming increasingly important parts of the automation lifecycle, alongside traditional engineering, spare parts management and on-site technical support.
